FYROM Professor Nikos Čausidis against Pseudohistory (Video)
In a recent interview (May 27th2016) (which was later published on social media), the preeminent professor of UKIM university in Skopje, Nikos Čausidis, who is an ethnic Greek, denounces the tendency by Balkan historiographic schools to use present-day political and ethnological realities as a key to solving of the past. The intervju was hosted on FYROM based Albanian TV channel Shenja and has been made available only recently. Čausidis, a professor of archaeology who published over 100 scientific works and has an international academic reputation, rejects the pseudo-scientific theories of origin of so-called "Macedonians" of FYROM from Ancient Macedonians (a Greek people on Hellenism's northern periphery). He also criticized the political-based pseudo-history by Balkan nationalists which is unrelated to scientific method in study of ancient past. Čausidis has a status of a public figure in FYROM who is actively opposed to attempts to link Macedonian classic antiquity with the modern day so-called "Makedonci" which gained their national name only after 1943 in communist Yugoslavia (being before recognized as a Serbo-Bulgarian people).
